Dartmouth returnees

Voy appears down again. I'm going to post here a follow-up from an earlier post on whether Dartmouth will have more talent on the field in 2016 despite losing 17 starters.

I agree with the school of thought that some new guys have more upside than the guys they are replacing. Dylan Mellor, Emmanuel Soto, Hunter Hagdorn, and Micah Croom all had D-I scholarship offers and/or preferred walk-on offers. The guys they are expected to replace did not.

Of course, the guys that they were expected to replace were very, very productive and scholarship offers mean jack once the season begins. That being said, those that argue that Dartmouth's 2016 players have more talent than their 2015 counterparts aren't wrong.

Your point is valid, but is only part of the picture. Most every football player, whatever his rating when he was a high school senior, is better his college senior year than he was in his college freshman year. About 20 years ago I commented to a Dartmouth coach on the big time rep of an incoming lineman. The coach told me that you never know what you have until you see the player on your own field in drills against upperclassmen.

I agree with that. Dartmouth's three-star incomings could very well s*** the bed once the spotlight shines on them. Talent only goes so far....

Look for several new faces to step in and be up to the task. Just to mention a couple I've watched and who were voted "Most Improved' at their position at Spring and highlighted during a notably weak JV schedule: Traynor; Hunnicutt; Moen; Porter. 'The Big Green' will truly be green with its experience, but won't be found to be short on athleticism in 2016.

4 incoming freshman who could contribute early for Dartmouth. All had multiple Ivy and Service Academy offers as well as Croom and Hagdorn with FBS offers:

Micah Croom - Projected as a CB
Hunter Hagdorn - WR
Niko Lalos - DE
Ryan Roegge - S

Dartmouth is also has a freshman QB coming in who could press Dixon and Heneghan. Jake Pallotta from Ohio.
